The bingo industry is on tenterhooks this afternoon in anticipation of the Government will (or not do) about the increased tax levels which are currently burdening the bingo industry.
Members of the bingo industry, MP’s and the public were so ruffled by the increase that they staged a protest outside Westminster, as they believe increasing tax from 15% to 22% is slowly killing the bingo industry.
It seems that week on week there are more announcements of bingo hall closures which insiders believe the tax rise is a key contributor to. If the tax were to be lowered again the financial strain on bingo halls throughout the UK would most certainly be lifted.
Gambling insiders believe that they are being unfairly treated as they pay a much higher tax rate than their sports and casino gambling counterparts.
There are a proposed total of five amendments to the finance bill, with results hopefully released by 6pm today.
